30 Years of Shipbuilding in Rostock-Gehlsdorf – Minister-President Schwesig Visits TAMSEN MARITIM

Rostock, May 2025 – On May 12, 2025, we at TAMSEN MARITIM GmbH celebrated the 30th anniversary of our shipyard location in Rostock-Gehlsdorf with around 140 guests. Among them were current employees and many retirees – including several who have been with us since our founding in 1995. We were also pleased to welcome Rolf Paarmann, the former managing director of the original founding shipyard.

We were honored to host the Minister-President of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Manuela Schwesig, and Vice Admiral Frank Lenski, Vice Chief of the German Navy and Commander of the German Fleet and Supporting Forces. Our Managing Director, Christian Schmoll, reflected on our journey: “With the foundation stone laid 30 years ago, a new chapter in shipbuilding in Rostock began.”

Originally established as A&R Neptun Boat Service GmbH, we have grown into a key player in the region. Today, TAMSEN MARITIM employs around 130 people and carries out up to 50 dockings annually – mainly for naval and government boats, passenger ships, rescue cruisers, and offshore service ships.

We are also active in newbuilds and have recently delivered custom-designed patrol boats for the customs authorities, workboats for the German armed forces, and rescue boats for the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). A newly built fisheries inspection vessel for the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is nearing completion.

Looking ahead, we aim to expand our focus on the construction of specialized vessels for government and naval use. At the same time, we continue to invest in training skilled personnel, currently supporting 18 apprentices in their development.
