Maintenance of a travelling cultural artefact

To put it in the words of the support association:

‘100 years of the pilot schooner Atlanta and more … This is only possible with good care, with people who have a passion for historical ships and with dedicated association members.’

And precisely this routine care was once again bestowed on this beauty at our shipyard.

The 36 m pilot schooner, which was launched in 1901, visited us for a short dry-docking procedure, known in shipbuilding circles as ‘a trim and a shave’, to be returned to the waters a week later.

More fascinating and historical details on the Atlanta are available from the support association in Wismar.
