Development of a method to increase the accuracy of an existing 5-axis milling machine through the integration of Industry 4.0 methods in the manufacturing process of large solid body models – A research project in cooperation with Fraunhofer IGP (2017 – 2019)

Participating in a funding programme for the development of process innovations, concepts of Industry 4.0 for the manufacturing process of large solid body models are created and implemented at TAMSEN MARITIM. The development of an innovative preprocessor should help to increase the accuracy of a milling machine with a very large work space. Elastic deformations due to process forces at different parts of the machining center are determined and compensated. In addition, a continuous recording and evaluation of the process data is to be integrated in order to increase the reproducibility within the entire production process and thus the achievable quality. The establishment of a vertical company network as well as assistance systems contributes to the availability of necessary data to the employees anytime. Thus the economic efficiency can be increased by reducing downtime.
